The Stations of the Cross

web statistics
Holy Trinity Church Coventry is a building full of many hidden treasures and surprises and one of them, that is not immediately obvious to the casual visitor, is the most wonderful "Stations of the Cross".  These are situated on the roof and sit on each roof beam either side.  These are, in reality, symbols of the "Stations of the Cross" rather than full representations.  Each station is represented by a symbol on a wooden shield held on each side by painted angels.

The thumbnails can be enlarged on selection and may open in a separate window.  They were taken from video footage taken by ourselves during the Spring of 1997 before the  scaffolding was erected at the crossing for the eventual restoration of the Medieval Doom Painting.  Descriptions will appear when you place your mouse over each thumbnail.  "Left click" to select and enlarge.
