Canon Graham William Clitheroe
Canon Graham William Clitheroe was vicar at Holy Trinity Church from 1931 until 1964. During this time he saved the church during the Second World Coventry Blitz. On a more personal note he also married my (Sarah) parents (Hilary and Owen Davies)in 1953 and also baptised both my brother, John (deceased aged 31 in 1986 and whose ashes are now interred in the church yard), myself (see Graham Clitheroe's original signature on my baptism certificate above) and my younger sister Catherine. Canon Graham Clitheroe's family asked Canon Lawrence Jackson (then vicar in 1968) if it would be possible for him to have his ashes buried in Holy Trinity Churchyard. Apparently they were refused that request by Lawrence because...........it was the church's wish that he should have them interred IN the the church and the photo, above, shows the stone marking the place of burial in the chancel. Download HERE the video clip with Catherine's baptism on in 1964 and see Canon Clitheroe for yourself! Third Party Links
